Ducting Air to TB's

I was planning to run the TB's on my 06 R1 with velocity stacks and a sausage filter. I want to open them up to the 'outside world' for cold air but I'm concerned about water ingress if caught in rain.

Are there any solutions?

There are a couple of solutions:-

Dont leave car out in the rain. Modest rain generally isnt a problem while the engine is running only starting.

Put one of tesco (or you prefered supermarket etc) shopping bags over the filter when car is left out in the rain.

If you are ducting the air then it should be fine unless it's vertical.

That's the problem - I think the R1 TB's will point straight up at the sky!

I understand this will not be a big deal if I'm moving in the wet, but when stationary... ?

A bonnet bulge will cover the filter from the rain. Personally I don't like the look of them. What you could do is forget the velocity stack and just duct cold air in under the bonnet. Put a small drain hole in the ducting to drain off any captured rain water.

Would it be possible to use a forced-induction type filter like

and duct cold air from the front of the car?
