R1 Alternator

Is the alternator integral to the engine?

Cheers (again!) Chris.

I assumed it was, but guesswork has already bitten my arse too many times during my project.

Does the standard one handle the extra lighting requirements for a car?

If you think about it there isnt really much additional lighting requirement, most modern superbikes like the R1 have a pair of 60w headlamps, so the only real difference is going to be one addtional rear side/brake light anda fog light when it's on, so as long as you aren't running things like heaters and stereos etc, there's not a lot of difference in load to the bike.

It's worth checking what the standard alternator chucks out though.... 40A???

My little ST1100 (pre96) chucks out 28A which is pretty crap!!!
