fireblade running
hi everyone
finally got it running again today,but i need help on a couple of problems.
when i stripped the carbs down i had 128 main jets and the middle air way blocked off. i left the the 128 jets in but left the middle air way clear is
this ok ??
and what should the standard size jets be 120 ??
i have fitted the RXIN digal dash like a few other people have i noticed now its running the rev counter moves from 1 thou to 3 thou when on idle
although its really idling about 1200 rpm ?? i have connected the wire from thr rxin dash to the yellow/green wire (blade ecu).has anyone eles had
this proplem

i think the carbs were just a bit dirty plus the usal new set of plugs it just doesnt seem right on idle

I think the norm is to block the centre holes.
Can't remember my jet size, but they were nearer 128 than 120.
Pat...

normal jet size is 115.
If you are doing the change of jets using the full jetting kit, then you would usually change five things:
1. Sausage type air filter (increases air flow which will lean the mixture)
2. Increase jet size (early blades are meant to have 128's and later need 132's - in reality, both can take the 132's and
this obviously enriches the mixture to match the filter)
3. Fit the jetting kit needles, and use the "E" washer on the second ring down from the top (this will then work in direct
correspondance with the increased jet size and open at the correct time)
4. block off the main air jets (stops too much air being drawn down)
5. Set the mixture screws to between 2.5 - 2.75 turns from stop (wind in clockwise, gently, until you reach the stop using a "grub"
screwdriver and then count out until 2.5 - 2.75
I would also suggest that you balance your carbs (especially if it's not running quite right at tickover)

These modifications are performed by doing all three at the same time.
I know Derek (Jubal here) runs a completely standard Blade 919, standard airbox and everything and it is running great in his car, albeit a touch down
on power than other cars that have bought the kit from AB Performance or TTS...
If it was me doing it and I didn't have all the components of the kit I would leave it all completely standard for now until you
upgrade!
