Bike engines weight and power output
Hi Chaps
Has anyone got a comprehensive list of bike engine weights and power outputs?
Particularly interested in earlier blade engines up to 918cc and ZX9 carb engine.
I need to use one in a 900cc class I will be racing in next year and am keen to see if there is a significant difference.
Also, which is the more available and lower cost as this will input to my decision as well.
Thanks
Harvey

I can't find it currently, but there is something like fireblades.org.uk which lists all the engines, engine numbers, weights, bhp/torque
etc.
Edit: Found it.

can't help you with a list or with blades but my 98 R1 engine was weighed at 60kg complete but without carbs. It makes 152 BHP on the dyno in
my car with a home made airbox, big air filter and straight through exhaust.
I bet other people will be along here soon to add to the list.

zx9r carb 140bhp, going to apporx 150 with Dynojet and sausage air filter, weight, not sure, I'd say approx 60 kg, but this is a guess,
I'ts a bit heavier that the fireblades.
Also have a look at http://www.westfield-world.com/enginespecs_bike.html

From dyno runs Ive seen posted in various forums, the ZX9 seems to average about ~10bhp more than the carbed blade. They are geared significantly
lower though so if you need high top speed and are using a prop driven diff (as opposed to chain drive), then gearing on the ZX9 may be an issue
As for weight, the blade is ~55-60kgs, the ZX9 isn't much different I dont think, maybe a couple of kgs heavier.
