Clutch... ?????
Hello more questions i'm afraid...
Right, am i right in thinking that if it is in gear and you put the clutch in the car should free roll as if it was in neutral, like a car? or am i
wrong. Juat when i pull the clutch cable on mine and it's in gear it don't butch? or has something gane wrong with my clutch?
Any advice would be great.
Sorry, it's a 2000 R1
Cheers

Does it move OK in Neutral?
Is you're engine running yet?
What pedal and cable have you got, did you set it up?
Sounds like it's not releasing if the other pointas are covered, may just be down to adjustment.
At the risk of OVER clutching, which can cause the opposite problem on R1 ie no drive, bear in mind that the difference between open and closed is
very small on a bike engine, it would not needto be far out to not release at all.
Does the clutch "feel" right?
As many questions as answers, sorry....

yeah moves fine when in neutral, engine is not running yet. We've used the orginal R1 clutch cable connected to the MK pedals. Clutch feels
ok... well it does to me, don't laugh but never been on a bike before so wouldn't know how one feels

OK, If it feels OK it probably is.
It should feel same as a car , just lighter.
Are youi sure it's pulling up enough?
Try pushing the lever on the engine by hand, or with the end of a hammer handle works well, see if it moves a tad more and then releases.
You've not modified the clutch itself have you ? New springs or plates?
Was the engine seen/heard or known good?

Yeah tried pushing it a bit more and to be honest it did move, but tried pushing the car and it still didn't move. Not touched the clutch at
all, just cleaned up the outside of the engine.
No didn't see it running starting to worry now.

Its possible if the engine has been standing for a while that one or two of the plates have dried out a bit and stuck to the adjascent plate.
I wouldnt worry about it at the moment, when you've got it plumbed in, run the engine up to temperature with the clutch pedal held down and you
may find it releases itself as it warms up. If not, a gentle push of the car with it in gear and the clutch down might just give it enough of a jolt
to free up. worse case scenario is taking the clutch plates out (an easy job) and either freeing them up or replacing.

Yep, as Chris said too, it all sounds OK and you can't really do alot mre until it's running, which is why I asked.
I certainly would'nt strip it or mess any more yet, As said, it's not a big job and can be done without taking the engine out.
Hurry up and get it running, it's a great milestone

Its as Chris says your clutch plates are stuck it will free off when engine is started let it get warm and with brakes on depress clutch and
engage 2nd gear there will be a clunk and thats it
the r1 suffers from clutch stick when been stood a while

Agree with the above,
My 1999 R1 was stood for 18 months before i used it and it was rock solid, it didnt free off when it got up to temperature either.
I put it in gear and depressed the clutch and OX pushed it back and forth in a angry manner and we heard a clunk and it came free.
Job done never had a problem with it sticking on after that.
