total kit car bike engine review

Hi, looking through total kit cars massive bike engine review, thought it was really good for anyone considering a bec but in the specification list it says first fuel injected r1's have 164bhp, i thought it was 150 from what id been told so is it correct?

I thought injected R1's were 160.

Later carb'd ones 155 ?

But it depends on who you are speaking to and how many beers you've sunk.

Don't metion 'blade engines though, they think a dynojet kit and a free flowing exhaust gets them up to 140

early carb'd r1 makes 150bhp
02-03 injected version of carb'd r1 152bhp
04-06 injected 180bhp (with ram air)

Not my Blade engine, I've done some engine work (ie I've changed the oil and filter) and I reckon it's pushing out about 192 BHP, not had it rolling roaded yet, but I am sure it's about that figure!

It is 152 for an R1.

R1 Spec

But mine has a Power Commander with a cool flashing light that goes up and down

Wonder what it shows at the wheels on a rolling road ?

See, there you go, mine has no flashing light that goes up and down so that prob takes off about 70hp so maybe it's around 122!!!!!!

Whats with the Blade bashing???

My 04 Blade, which is still in 2 wheeled form, is only modded with a shiny LOUD endcan and put out 169.8 at the wheel on the dyno last year. And i have the sober print out too.
This is 2hp more than my mates Gixer thou with full Acrprovic system. Theres a grand well spent by him, lol.

Earlier Blades did give less power than R1's and such as some love to point out (i suspect fesycresy is a total Yam fan) but Blades were always more reliable and the rest of the bike was that good, they didn't need as much go to be as quick.
That doesnt help the Bec's though

Just to add to the reliability thing, as a Blade riding bike instructor for many years i still have one with 75k miles on the clock and its still damn fast.

Slider,

Not 'blade bashing but more taking the p*ss out of one or two people.

I did mention 'dynojet' kit for carb'd models and not 'power commander' for later injected ones. But still that is one impressive figure of 169.8.

As for in the bike, when the R1 was released it set new standards, as did the 'blade in '93. The release of the R1 coincided with the 'softening' of the 'blade for quite a few years (RRW model ?). I would still prefer an R1 (or GSXR) for the road. No doubting Honda's reliability though.

Not many injected 'blade engines have been used in kit cars, more in sidecars I think (stand to be corrected though - cue 'blade guru Andy Bates) isn't the engine tall and the uncertainty whether it needs dry sumping or at least a swinging pick up pipe ?

By the way, at Mallory I'll have the stop watch on you Mr. Ison

Finally just one last comment, R1's are better than 'blades
