Hi, any one know what gearbox/axle noble use on the 3 litre engine? Is it a standard (or uprated) ford part? Thanks
Standard MTX-75 afaik. My gearbox came from an M12 which had an upgrade to the 6 speeder (which is apparently weaker)
Whats the 6 speed from is it a st220 box then? What about the ratios, presumably they change the ratios around a bit on the top gears at least? Thanks for the reply
Yes, the ratios do change a little but when I researched it a while back I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to swap the boxes. The mounting points and cable connections are all different too.
OK. The reason i ask is cause a friends buying a 5 speed noble soon but has a st220 6 speed box and wondered if it would be the same as nobles 6
speed box. How far out are the gear ratios? I expect it will probably rev out in top, or would the bigger wheels compensate for this. He knows about
the different mounting points, but would the clutch be the same?
Re: ratios changing, i meant a mondeo 6 spd compared to a noble 6 spd, not sure if thats how it came across

I am pretty sure the two are almost identical and even the wheels are almost the same rolling circumference (ST220 has 18" wheels I think)
The standard 5 speed is a much stronger box and will go over 400bhp without a problem - the 6 speeder has a history of failures with less power so I
wouldn't recommend doing a swap. The Noble's V6 has a wide enough torque band so I feel that 6 speeds are unneccessary anyway.
ok, thanks for the advice illl pass it on
