Haven't seen anything lately about his hand formed car. Would be nice to get an update...

Hi Chaps,

Thank you for the interest in my project. But just to set the record straight, I definitely haven't left the best forum in the world and although I haven't contributed anything for a while, I do visit regularly. The reason I'm writing up the project on the RetroRides forum is simply because posting photos is very easy.

Progress is slow but I'm in no hurry to get it finished and it is very nice not having any deadline to work to.

I have just about finished the dashboard which has taken about three months. A long time, but it involved a lot of work, some of it very uncomfortable working upside down in the driver's footwell.

I've gone for automatic climate control which I purchased from the States and a decent head unit with Waze and Apple car play.

All the rear body panels are made and just waiting for trimming and welding together.

Thanks for the update.

What a stunning job you've done with that dashboard and consol. The best project I've seen on here for years.

Thank you so much for your very kind words but I am just an amateur and most of my work leaves a lot to be desired. There are some extremely skilled people on this forum who do stunning work and leave me for dead. But the important thing, perhaps the most important thing is that I absolutely love what I'm doing and as I'm nearly 80 now it is probably keeping me alive.

It's been a while since the last update but things have been moving on slowly and we are now at a stage when the roof and the complete rear bodywork are finished apart from a small piece of welding.

Fantastic - as always!

Is that a Scimitar in the 2nd pic? (another project?)

Hi Nick, yes it's a GTE SE5 but not a project. I bought it specifically for a road trip in the Cotswolds we'd planned to do in the company of friends in their classic cars but because one of our dogs was very poorly it didn't happen. So I have just sold it on being unable to sustain it and the project. A shame really because it is a fine motor car and the sound of the V6 on song is music to the ears.

I'm hoping the website is more stable now so I'm going to try to update the project build thread.

Kind regards
