Betrayed the locost ethos
Well I gave in this week the temptation was just too much for me I bought an unstarted Riot from a chap who had lost heart with the project - the
finances just made so much sense.
All I have to do is alter the engine bay a bit to get a decent sized motor in and upgrade the brakes a lot and I should be cooking with gas.
Check out Sylva Riot web site the design is very thoughtfull and I am inpressed with the attention to detail. The only thing is the chassis
don't appear to be well triangulted so I'll have to try out Cymtricks tips on Grape to see if it can be improved.
I think the design is the bees knees but having bought the thing I would wouldent I? It embodies the locost ethos of less is more and would be easy to
fabricate something similar if you are so inclined. My excuse is I could hardly do it myself for the price paid.
I would appreciate advice on the fiesta rear uprights used as I think they may not be up handling a lot of power/torque. Anyone know 'bout them?

Always glad to come across other Sylva converts, I'm very pleased with my mojo, been using it daily for my trip to work for nearly a year
now.
I agree that the triangulation isn't perfect everywhere, but this is more down to the difficulties of a mid engined design rather than anything
else.
The Fiesta rear uprights have given no trouble at all, they are after all designed to cope with a 8-900kg vehicle. Although the fiestas might not
have had as much power, braking loads will be worse on the fiesta, so I have no worries on that one.
Edited to say: take a look at www.r1ot.com, a currently small but handy forum.
Good luck!

Checked out the Sylva cars. The Mojo's a good looking vehicle but I don't know about the Riot. Slightly go-kartish to me.
As for betraying the ethos, how so? If the project was being ignored no reason to let it go to waste, eh?

No guilt trip here. Sometimes, putting together a kit gives you the confidence to do a ground-up, sometimes you just don't have the time, et
cetera.
The R1ot IS go-cartish. That's part of it's charm.
Good on you. I'm jelous.

Welcome to the fold.
I think it's a lovely looking car, except when you're staring up its nose trying to work out how to get the radiator to fit .

Good man, I wouldn't be worried if i were you, there are people on her with more expensive cars and after reading which kits end of year review
between the aeon sebring and riot i cant argue its a fine little car with a lot more potential then sylva have made it and you seem willing to
exploit. what mark fiesta is the suspension from? I used to be a ford boy but moved on but still know a few useful places for parts if you are
interested.
Picky if you want info on a rear engined kits then u2u me and ill give you a few sites to check out
