Gear change on an Indyblade

On my indyblade sometimes when I am change from 1st to 2nd the gear jumps into neutral. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just my bad gear change technique??

Hi there i've had the same thing happen only a couple of times but like you i'm not sure if it means there is anything wrong!!! my gearbox is out and stripped at the moment for something else and there is nothing wrong with it or the clutch!!! unless its in the clutch adjustment so would be good to see if anyone else has any comments, Cheers Andy

is it not just cos you're not pushing it past the neutral gate? as its got to go down to 1st, then up half to neutral then into 2nd...

Not sure if its the same issue but my Honda CBR600 used to jump out of second gear into neutral under load.

Some of the early CBR's had this problem which was known about, I think it was something within the gearbox that wears prematurely.

As the Fireblade (CBR900) and CBR600 engines are both made by Honda then there may be a link.

Are there any bike forums where you could try this enquiry ?

Cheers

Angus

I have noticed I now get this and I believe it's because now I have fitted paddleshift there is slightly less throw on the gear lever and thus it sometimes just doesn't move it enough to get it to 2nd gear and just catches nuetral.

Have you tried adjusting the mechanism to move the lever more?

Rich.

Rich, Yes I have a paddle shift fitted.

I have not tried anything with it yet as I have only been out in it a couple of times since finishing it. I also fitted the uprated clutch and springs over the winter so I can count that out as the problem.

Thanks for the comments, I will try some of the suggestions and if that still does not sort it I will take it down to the local Honda bike shop and see if they have any ideas.

Cheers
-Gary
