front shock bump travel

hi, have started building the front suspension components on a stuart taylor chassis w/ top and bottom wishbones.... but the closed length of my avo shocks seem to be too small and seem to 'bottom out' before the chassis does..... is this a problem? what shocks (and closed lengths) are recommended???

i think mine are 9 1/2" inch closed length...

Thanks...

dear mr raver. most of the stuart taylor chassis use 12" fully opend. but there were a few that ran the 12.5" fully open these are westfield spec ones and were supplied when 12" ones were out of stock . all depends on what ride hight your thinking of running . just keep sump clearence to 2 3/4" min

Thanks for the help... i want to run the car fairly close to 75mm ride hieght, but ive been advised to run at 90mm, what works in your experience?!

Why do you suggest 70mm clearance of the sump when the regs allow 50mm? Safety??!

Thanks,

Dave.
