just got a phonecall saying that they need my chassis number from the dvla, even though when i went to the dvla the useless **** who saw me told me
they wouldnt touch me until i had it svad... also 'oh, we put our prices up this year, itll be another 32 quid' i just downloaded the bloody
form 2 weeks ago, couldnt they have updated it on the internet?
its rediculous how much of a mess it is...
rant over
sorry what is the £32 pound for?
I feel your pain the main DVLA are a nightmare to deal with, they seem experts are not actually answering questions
Oh dear, yet another disgruntled customer. Its right DVLA don't want to see you before SVA as they aren't invovlved in the approval process.
You have to have a road worthy car first as they only deal with registration.
However, THEY can help you with the VIN number as they hold all the details for every vehicle's number. All you need is a number that is unique
and thats that BUT you need to present them with one.
So, I wrote to the DVLA office with a number I made up asking if it was OK before I stamped it on. They replied not only to say "Yes thats
OK", (unique) but also included the V5/55 etc along with leaflets on reigistering your car.
SVA wont do your car without a VIN so make one up and send it in for approval.

Just ask the DVLA if they supply Ford, and Vauxhall with their VIN numbers!
They should acept yours as long as it meets the criteria on number of digits and letters etc. No I ' (eye's) and no O (Oh's) etc
etc.
As been said before... some of them are Numpty's.
Chelmsford were fine with me.

after my little outburst, i headed down to the dvla and got given a chassis number, then told that i have to go to a garage to get it stamped
on....only they wouldnt advise that i drive....much more helpful this time!
the extra 32 quid is cause even though on the website it says its 158 quid for sva, theyve apparently put prices up in july... or more they want a
staff night out on friday
you'll love the £55 pound charge for getting the car registered then
