side lights

I've got my side lights wired up to come on with the accessory switch on my ignition, so i can turn the key backwards, away from ignition on, to switch them on, but i can't then remove the key, will mr sva like this?

Probably not

don't think so as you are meant to be able to leave your side lights (parking lights) on at night without the key in the ignition so most likely that is a fail, wire the car as per a modern production car behaves and you will be fine

SVA doesn't require side lights to work with ignition off. Just the hazards that do. I can't see any advantage of the way your doing it though.

i figured that the key would be removable in the park position which would have left the side lights on, as it does on my bike, but after a good hard tug, i realised it wasn't going to come out

What about when you park your car in a dark road? You are legally required to have your sidelights on in that situation - so, "sidelights on with the key out".

The clue is in the SVA name for those lights - 'position lamps'.
