Dangle_kt - 17/12/08 at 04:22 PM

Hi Guys and Girls,

Just after a pol on how many of you are planning on getting your cars finished pre IVA to avoid the raft of complications that just seems to grow and grow.

I understand it starts in April... so lets see who wil beat it!

Mine is all done bar a few edges to cover and a speedo cable to fit, just hope once xmas is out the way I'll get a day or 2 off to fill in forms and get it done.

I don't even have my kit yet, it comes mid Jan but we are going to try and crack on with it for the first 4-6 weeks to see how much we can get done.

I believe you need to get the papers sent in before the end of Feb to get an SVA before the end of April

Tinks1 - 17/12/08 at 04:58 PM

Just need to fit steering wheel and tune up and I should be ready.

Fill forms in after xmas..............

Mal - 17/12/08 at 05:10 PM

As I understand it the IVA fee will be over £500.
A friend has had a communication from the body that operate the SVA tests saying that for failed SVA tests done before the cut off date in March there will be a 6 month period for re-tests under SVA rules. So there is potential to save about £350 even if a car goes for its first test without a hope of passing.

.

jollygreengiant - 17/12/08 at 06:55 PM

Should not be a problem, I am going to have do a few things differently from original plan as it looks like I'm not going to get the bits made that I had been hoping for a few months ago.

Mark G - 17/12/08 at 07:06 PM

I'm aiming to get it finished in around march. Hopefully I'll be getting the engine started before xmas as I have some time off work. Then I will fill out the forms and send them off as after that I really just need to finish off the rear loom, fit the panels, set up suspension and a few little jobs.

iiyama - 17/12/08 at 07:48 PM

Filling out the forms as we speak, aiming to get it in on 03/02/09.......

LBMEFM - 17/12/08 at 08:16 PM

Talking to Paul Jepson (ex DVLA and now SVA form filling man) he feels that it will not be introduced on time.

rb968 - 17/12/08 at 08:22 PM

£500 !! Bloody hell......think I'd better open another can.

scootz - 17/12/08 at 08:24 PM

Fingers crossed it will be ready before the end of SVA... I could probably blitz it if I had the spare cash...

How verifiable is this? More importantly, will such a delayed introduction of the new regs have any effect on the cut-off dates already quoted on this forum? E.g. end Feb for SVA forms submission.

Well, I could also blitz it..........if I had a nice heated garage, instead of a crappy, leaking lock-up!! Just have to pray for mild weather, for Jan and Feb!!

oh that would be would be nice. just a couple of months could make a big differance.

Daddylonglegs - 18/12/08 at 04:00 AM

The only thing that worries me is the fact that trying to rush myself to finish before the deadline might tempt me to take some shortcuts I might not have?....

Just a thought.

Vindi_andy - 18/12/08 at 09:36 AM

Aiming to get it running this year. Nearly there. but like someone else has said if im rushing to get it ready to beat IVA then I might make some bad choices that will cost me money just to get it ready.

Still aiming to get forms in before deadline got loads of time off over Xmas so I dont think the family will see me much after boxing day unless they come down to the garage as long as the weather is mild

shaun fulcrum - 18/12/08 at 05:48 PM

Am doing my best to finish in time but keep running out of money!!! (shouldn't be so fussy)
Might even be the first fulcrum through sva (except raws demo:cool

MautoK - 26/12/08 at 12:18 AM

Only about ten fairly minor 'to do' items; and paperwork is in progress, so I'm hoping to fix the SVA for January.

focijohn - 27/12/08 at 05:01 PM

im putting my order down in janurary.....
