SVA Retest Price
eddie99 - 27/12/08 at 08:32 PM

Hiya guys,

Just thinking about whether its actually worth rushing a bit to hit sva with some friends help and fail then do the retest within the 6months. For a retest, do you have to pay for the full price or is it like £100 for a retest?

Thanks

Ed

Don't forget the new IVA test comes in in April , not sure if the car fails SVA it will only have to pass rest or if it will have to pass IVA???

I have heard that if you fail SVA, you have 6months to retake and pass under the SVA guidelines. After that 6months, then you will have to past the IVA

Thanks

Yes the current retest fee is £38, but doesnt need to be paid until the car is presented for inspection on the day of retest.

Yea, mine failed last week (only minor things, can be sorted very easly) I was told by the SVA man - I have 6 months to sort the issues, retest will be £38 which is paid on the day of the retest. Also the retest will be under SVA not IVA.
Hope that helps

What would happen if you went to first SVA and fail with an incomplete car, then failed retest in say 3 months, would the re-retest be IVA or SVA?

ive heard that you can have as many retests as you like within the 6 month period, but as soon as it gets past 6 months any retests you have are under iva, also apparently they will refuse to test at all if its unfit or whatever, so i think that rules out wheeling in an unfinished car
