Proof of engine age - ZX9R
johncarman - 4/1/09 at 05:10 PM

I am filling out my SVA forms, and I have come accross a problem obtaining proof of engine age for my ZX9R engine. I previously sent an e-mail to kawasaki UK asking if they could help, but received no reply. Does anyone have any experience of trying to obtain this information ??
I know the rough age of the engine, (around 2000 - 2001) is this accurate enough for the form, and then I try to get proof before the test ?? What will happen if I can't provide this information, will the resulting emissions test be impossible to pass with a Carb ZX9R ??

Thanks,

John

Is the Haynes manual of any use? The ST1100 one shows engine date from engine number. Mr SVA was more than happy with that (though I wrote to Honda customer services and also got confirmation- cost me £30 though!!)....

Try ringing Kawasaki UK and speaking to them. They are extremely helpful when you contact them but must admit, they're not the quickest when communicating by e-mail.

It makes no difference, if you can't prove engine age they will test to latest emissions which IIRC is identical for any post '95 engine

You can use the Haynes manual, the list of engine numbers and years is in the front but as Russ said, on the machine the tester was working on it was just labelled as 1995 - onwards.

As above, You only need to prove the engine year of manufacture if you are claiming the engine was manufactured before 1995.

No proof is required if you claim it was manufactured after 1995
