VIN Number - Peterborough DVLA - Info

This is just FYI really, hopefully it will be of help to someone...

In the process of filling out the SVA form, I had a big dilemma over what to do about the VIN number, there is mixed advice on whether to contact the DVLA, or just put anything on the form.
I decided in the end to contact the DVLA, I sent a letter to the peterborough office explaining what I was doing, and proposed my own VIN number. This week a very helpful chap by the name of Stephen called me, they were more than happy for me to propose my own VIN, but had the following advice

- They wanted it to start with an S

- They wanted the last 6 digits to be numbers

The VIN I proposed did not have any 1's or 0's in it anyway, I took that advise from this forum.

The guy told me that I have to do nothing now before the SVA, after SVA I should contact him, and he will arrange to do all the paperwork with me, do the inspection and get the car registered. All in all I was very impressed with Petrborough DVLA, and glad I went down the route of contacting them.

Looks like the SVA form will be in the post this weekend !!
