SVA Application Refusal

Sorry about this! Posted it in For Sale before. DOH!!!

Just heard from a mate of mine, a Westfield owner/builder/ modifier, of the seemingly higher numbers of applications being returned from VOSA for additional information that appear to be unjustified. Is this common and is it that they are trying to delay things and get more people to go through IVA? I put copies of invoices for the major components with my application and they say I need more. What can I do if I have already given them all I have and what they asked for? Major components, steel for chassis, steel for suspension, invoice for donor vehicle, wheels, different engine as I didnt use the donor vehicle and a variety of others, some that actually had the DVLA stamp on them from when the vehicle was police checked for the chassis number.

I think if there is an increase it's just because there's more going in. There's been plents of threads on here from people who've had there dates back with on problems recently.

...and it's because of Westfield and Caterham building cars and then having the customer present them for SVA that they've tightened up in the first place.

Contact them to ask what more they want would be my suggestion.

And what the hell's a "police checked for the chassis number."???

Cheers,

When I applied for a chassis number, DVLA arranged for an upstanding member of the constabulary to come and check that I hadnt nicked the parts that were on my chassis at that stage. I even had to send in some receipts to prove things. As I said, some of my invoices were stamped by DVLA but that was back in March 2001 so things may well have changed since then.

I didn't have to supply any receipts with the SVA application, have the rules changed? When I went for my registration I took a big envelope with all my receipts and the donor log book as well. The woman behind the counter didn't even look in the envelope.

I had it even easier - two guys turned up for a home inspection , one had a glance through the pile of reciepts while the other had a quick check over the finished car - then they gave me a registration number .
Then I booked my SVA test.............the tester wasnt at all happy to see number plates on it , but I had the paperwork from VOSA (or DVLA ?) to prove it was the correct one
This was Leicester , in 2000 , with the test in Maidstone .
