t16turbotone - 27/4/09 at 06:08 PM

what a shite day, had offical vosa printed appointment for 8.00am at brum, was there for 7.45am only to be told by staff that i didnt have appointment, showed them my correspondance letter from swansea, which seemed to annoy them. Anyway was told that my test wouldnt be till 2.00pm!...ok i said i will return at 2.00, when i returned i found that my car had somehow been tested, and failed....really would have liked to have been involved in the test!!!

stitched up there mate

thats just not fair at all. would not be happy if that was my car,and someone would have some questions to answer. it sounds like one big cock up to me! what if a lot of the fail points could have been sorted during the test by you, and they never gave you the chance to do it?

t16turbotone - 27/4/09 at 06:20 PM

i did try to get a few answers, but was told quite clearly very busy and this is just how it is, or you can apply for iva, better keep my mouth shut now...it has to go back there for retest

blakep82 - 27/4/09 at 06:22 PM

well... if its a fail, you get 6 months to retest under SVA. which although obviously not ideal, is better than them just refusing to test it.

did you get the list of fail points from them? if they were not all things that could have been sorted at the test, its still a shite day etc, but... well, you know, it could have been worse

t16turbotone - 27/4/09 at 06:34 PM

biggest fail.....i used four 12mm rose joints, on front suspension arms, they were deemed of insuffient strength?? i asked "in what context" and was told that he thought they would snap!!! forumla ford cars use m8 roses!

omega0684 - 27/4/09 at 07:01 PM

what else did it fail on mate, was it a good fail or a nightmare?

t16turbotone - 27/4/09 at 07:11 PM

hello alex,
too much braking effort on rears
noise
emissions...(very nearly passed)
couple of projections
got to beef up upper harness mounts
rose jointed wishbones??
doesnt like my fia battery switch?
i dont think its too bad really,,, at least ime in on sva

blakep82 - 27/4/09 at 07:14 PM

hmm, M12 is considered the minimum, besides, the suspension bolts are M12 aren't they?

ah, not too bad, but really annoying of them to have done it that way

t16turbotone - 27/4/09 at 07:26 PM

yeah m12 bolts and roses, not really sure what to do about that one, i did ask what modification would he like to see me implement...he didnt know?? i have a techincal data sheet on these rose joints maybe i should use maths and science?

Wouldnt that mean that the VOSA man would have to use common sense and not gut feeling or what he wants etc..... i know not all of them are like this but i've had dealings with them.

Which examiner did yours do you know.

Doesnt sound like dave hes a really nice guy. Sounds like you got done up like a kipper re the time of the test but when Mine was done they needed me to operate the controls.

Did you leave the keys if not how did they test it?
