One of the concerns at my recent SVA fail was the overlap of ali panels.
I have overlapped the side panels, and rivetted them along the edge.
Tester was concerned, since all panels are meant to be folded over 180 at the edges, which I havent done.
I remember seeing some trim, at one of the shows last year, but cant remember which supplier.
Ring any bells with anyone?
Is it a requirement that aluminium panel edges have to be folded over?.... I was just going to do mine flat......?....
just put a bead of silicon over the joint, you can buy simple plastic scrapers that smooth the silicon
from what the tester said, i dont think a bead of silicon would be enough.........

It does not give an external projection that sticks out more than 2mm so whats the issue?.... hu? GRRRRR
hmm, these testers are a bit hit and miss these days...
I think the testers have been rushed off their feet and maybe a few little errors have crept in. Presumably it will be quieter for a while - who will be the first IVAer on this site??

Just a point does the rear panel overlap the front (meaning sharp edge ? would be facing forward) or does front panel overlap rear (sharp edge ?
facing back) the first one may be his issue

This is the part that the examiner got wrong, on your car he was NOT seeing a sheet metal edge (as in a wheel arch or exhaust cut out), he was seeing
an overlap, and as such is classed as a projection of less than 5mm and only needs blunting ie; rubbing down with wet and dry. I would appeal this or
at least get clarification.
If you can't be arrased,you could stick some of this on,butting up to the edge of the protruding panel, should be cheaper at an independent

Thats the kind of trim i was thinking of. Will go and see at Halfords.
BTW, my front panel overlaps the back; i.e. the edge is pointing away from the from of the car
