Following a major tidy up of my wiring for SVA I have enclosed all wiring in cable protectors and very tidy it looks. My question is where the cables run along the engine cradle & chassis members to the engine etc is it acceptable to secure them with cable ties?
I expect this depends a lot on the tester.
I think you can get away with a few cable ties, where other methods wouldn't be possible.
However, mostly I think rivets need to be involved, either with P-clips, or the stick down cable tie bases, but riveted in the centre. (take photos)
Gillingham guys not so fussy about cable ties, so long as the wiring is secure and can rub.
U2U me mate if u need any help, wheels still waiting in the loft lol
Thanks Ben, still struggling, hope to have it ready for re-test in the next few weeks. I will be in touch re wheels then. Call you soon regards Barry
Make sure that the wiring is either in split conduit or spiral wrap for protection too.
my entire loom is held on with cable ties!

VOSA told me to use cable ties on mine as it had these sticky pads holding the cables on which were unacceptable - took them off wrapped it in cable tidy and then cable tied them all to the chassis. I only had to use p clips for the braided fuel hose.

cable ties on mine, no comments at the sva - though the odd loose wire was commented on - they wanted them all wrapped.
