SVA Failed
Kitlooney1000 - 28/4/04 at 05:14 PM

Never mind, just a few edges to sort out and a couple of brake lines to protect, and the hadbrake needs adjusting. Head restraints on the roll bar as it was so low.
Retest on the 13th may

scutter - 28/4/04 at 05:40 PM

unlucky Dude, at least nothing drastic.

How were the testers in Southampton?

All the best Dan.

Kitlooney1000 - 28/4/04 at 06:07 PM

testers are ok, seemed to be good for a laugh. lots of tips on how to make the corrections, even did a few there and then himself. failure list looks bad, its 4 pages long, but he wrote on there there technical terms for the failures and also the laymans terms.

scutter - 28/4/04 at 06:28 PM

Cool, I seem to be in a bit of a no-mans land as far as SVA centres go so keeping my options open.

All the best Dan.

Kitlooney1000 - 28/4/04 at 06:39 PM

I think Exeter is your closest one, might be wrong tho

scotlad - 28/4/04 at 10:07 PM

bad luck mate- be all right at retest i'm sure and then....... yippee!

JamJah - 29/4/04 at 03:41 PM

bad luck. so thats one car that wont be visiting uncle john next week.

I would have thought there was a SVA center in Oxford. Maybe that just irony with the roads there though.

THought you would have got that one lew. ah well! scutter, do i know you? and are you really nammed after a robotic dustpan and brush? propbably something else that no one understands except myself.

craig1410 - 29/4/04 at 11:28 PM

Sorry to hear of the fail but at least you have a work list now so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You say that the rollbar was too low. How low is it and what is the SVA requirement? I ask because mine is quite low and I'm a little bit worried now that it might be too low...

Cheers,
Craig.

Jamjah, yes I'm named after the red dwarf charactor(cleaned to many hanger).

Haven't meet you yet, but many moons ago i kinda started the new forest group.

All the Best Dan.

Kitlooney1000 - 1/5/04 at 07:44 PM

Roll bar isnt too low, its just low enough to warrant a head restraint or padding of some discription. If you look on my photo archive at a picture called Who's that or something like it you can see why.
Jamie look on your new forest Locost group contact sheet, Dan is on there, he is the founder member and a wealth of knowledge, (bit of a locost anorak).

Are you at the stoneleigh show tomorrow or monday, Piggy Andy and I are going Monday if you want to meet up.

Been busy woking through the work list today, just need to replace the mirrors now. And did you know if you have a non lockable petrol filler cap inside a lockable boot, they will fail it. has to be lockable filler cap regardless.

ANORAK

I'll take that as a complament Lew. Take it the meetings next monday?

As am down tomorrow trying to help Gary.

All the best Dan.

Did your RS wheels pass the SVA? or did you use the steels for the test - vested interest, I also have a set of RS's and a set of 1300GT steels incase the RS's are not SVA friendly

Kitlooney1000 - 2/5/04 at 08:14 PM

just left the steels on there for the SVA, no tyres for the rs one yet. still trying to decide whether to go for the 195/55r13's (rare as Rocking horse sh*t) or 185/55r13's bit cheaper

Mark Allanson - 2/5/04 at 09:10 PM

Did you ask the SVA inspector about the RS's being compliant?

Kitlooney1000 - 3/5/04 at 05:14 PM

No sorry mark
