Hello,
i amm looking to buy a cat D car.
But it is not clear for me.
Cat D means that the car has been damaged.
What do i have to do once the car is repaired.
Can i just drive it , or should i go to the MOT or IVA station to show what was repaired on the car ?
Will the car be sold without V5?

If anyone can explain clearly.

CAT D do not require an inspection, its usually a cat D because its not financially viable to repair it (at bodyshop rates), i.e. over costs over 60% of value of vehicle. You will just have to apply for a new log book.

My Mums car was damaged and registered cat d she had the repair done which was a new rear door and had to take the car to be inspected at the DVLA's request so it seems a little bit of a grey area but what isnt with the DVLA

Cat D,just apply for log book,and take for a new MOT only,no DVLA inspection required

Done a few Cat C's and D's all you need for a D is apply for V5 if you don't get one with the car and a new MOT, a Cat C needs a DVLA inspection but they don't certify the repair they check VIN number and engine number. Both aren't a problem but sometimes get bad press.
