Fuel Line P-Clips
James - 21/6/04 at 08:42 PM

Could someone remind me of the maximum clip spacing for fuel lines please?

Pretty sure it was 300mm same as brake lines but can't get to SVA manual right now and I want to drill them now.

Cheers,
James

can't see anything in the book about spacing, any ideas what its under?

for the record i spaced mine something like every 75mm if memory serves me..

Mk-Ninja - 21/6/04 at 08:58 PM

When I had my SVA they said they wanted clips no more than 200mm apart and in general 150mm. But I think it depends on the tester you get, like alot of this stuff.

god damn it, everything of mine is done to 300mm, if they fail me i'll kick his knackers out of his nose...

for the record, is the loom meant to be clipped every 300 or less?!

James - 21/6/04 at 09:33 PM

Oh blinkin 'eck I was sure the brakes were 300mm- I thought I was being too generous in what I've just done which is mostly 150mm but up to 250mm where objects dictated.
The bloody chassis will fall apart if I drill many more!

Also, Tifosi only sent me 14clips with my fuel line kit, at 150mm I can only clip 2.4m worth of fuel line!

my SVA examiner mentioned something about no less than 9"s apart,300 mm is nearly 12".

Must admit it depends on where you go probably.

James,gets confusing doesn't it?
Best to work at 300mm or less (12inches) in old money! lol
Thats for fuel, brakes and wiring.

Ok, well added a bunch of brake (3/16th) P-clips- easy as I have a bag of 100.

Anybody got a few 3/8th clips they would sell me (or better still swap for an appropriate amount of 3/16th or 5/16th) please?

I'm after about 10 but can probably get away with a couple less if that's all you can spare.

Thanks,

James

EDIT: As a last resort, can anyone remind me who the company is that sells them at shows? The do them in blue&white bags of 50/100 or so. The Tifosi ones are little pricey!

James,

don't forget your chassis is longer, so the kit you bought might have had enough for a book chassis..

Ned.

Hi James

I got my rubber lined s/steel p clips from

Beal (UK) Ltd
Albion Mills, Church Street
Morley, Leeds
LS27 8LY

Tel: 0113 253 8888
Fax: 0113 253 0223

www.beal.org.uk

This was alot cheaper than the shows.

I'll see if I have any 10mm (3/8ths = 9.525mm) left over from my build. IIRC I used most of em.

Cheers

Jim

Just spoken to Bob Taylor on the SVA Tech helpdesk on the subject of fuel line clip fixing distance and he comfirmed that it does not actually specify the distance they should be apart. He suggests 300mm, if its OK for wiring then it should be OK for the fuel line as well. He also said if the test engineer asks for them to be closer together challenge him & ask where he gets his figure from.
