What's the normal place to stamp the VIN on a se7en chassis?

For UK spec i was told drivers side (offside) didnt matter where so i went for bulkhead area,i also engraved the chassis number onto the floor inbetween drivers pedals and seat.

My local man wanted it stamped twice - once in an obvious place, which is a metal plate rivetted and PU-glued to the aluminium near to the battery, and the other on the steel chassis itself.

Apparently they do this so they can identify the vehicle in the case of a severe fire... nice...
