Ok I got my chassis number from dvla today, only took them a month
On the letter it says I have to get it stamped / signed of by a garage.
Whats this all about ? is this verified at iva or do I have to take it to a garage as that will be a pain in the arse.
cheers
It is to verify you have had it done... Do you know a friendly mechanic? I did mine myself, wrote a letter, then asked my mechanic to sign it (I welcomed him if he wanted to come and check the chassis, but he declined!)...
It'll be checked at IVA.
It might help, should DVLA want to check/inspect it themselves, if you also have a signed letter from a garage to say they've done it. Then you
can argue against thier inspection... !
I stamped mines took pics and showed them to my friendly local MOT station. Yhey signed it off and embossed it with their stamp. Once the car was
going I let them see itt alongwith the pics etc to show nothing was underhand.
IIRC the dvla also supplied the letter to be signed by the garage.
Don't see the problem.
I made up my chassis no and stamped it myself on a strip of steel which I then welded to an offside chassis member.
This number went on the application form for the IVA and it was checked by the tester. At VOSA inspection, the guy checked that the number on the
chassis matched the IVA pass form. That was it.
