My car tax will run out at the end of Oct, and will be layed up ready for next year,
I was planning on doing the sorn on line on the 31oct, is that correct??
Also, what are the rules on driving a car to a pre arranged MOT, even if the car has an MOT ?
As i might have to move my Car in Nov to my Parent's house, but the car will already be sorned, is insured, and MOT is due next May,
regards
Steve

Just sorn your car early. The system knows when your tax runs out and shows the sorn start date when doing it online.
im sure you will have to tax the car regardless of insurance, mot or desrination.
i am going to have to insure my car for november because i will drive 20 mile round trip for a track day!!!
As a rule of thumb it is only after 2 weeks after your tax runs out that the DVLA will put you on the active hit list for being unsorned/untaxed,
of course it goes without saying this doesn't allow to use the vehicle on the road except travelling to & from to a pre-booked MOT.
Yu can have as many MOTs as you like --- as a valid justification you can say you are thinking of selling the car and want to give the buyer a
new MOT but for it to be believed the MOT station you have booked into should be within a reasonable distance, with the current cost of MOTs it
might be cheaper to tax for 6 months and surrender the tax disc.
Thanks, for the replies
Parents house is a 10 miniute walk/5 mins drive from mine, and IS on the way to my MOT place
So should be alright
