IVA fail at beverly
daniel mason - 19/4/12 at 06:36 AM

failed iva yesterday but all in all not too bad. i had snapped my speed sensor on a propshaft bolt and didnt have time to fit a new one before so i took it along in case it passed everything else and i would have tried to sort it,but it wasnt to be,
1;battery bolted down through th base. (needed a bracket)
2;chassis number and plate supplied not suitable (required a full manufacturer make model etc on it)
3;fuel tank straps not quite tight enough,
4;cable ties needed on oil lines
5;lost a few nut covers on route! lol
6;hand brake efficiency not quite good enough

and the 2 main ones.
1;emissions failed again,
passed at idle,
but failed on Co at fast idle, needed to be 0.2 but best i could get was 0.29
2;race technology dash 2 failed as the handbrake warning light was too bright to read the symbol

Unlucky mate get your spanners out and get it retested for stoneleigh

rb968 - 19/4/12 at 08:22 AM

Bad luck Daniel. Keep your chin up. At least you have a list of fixes now to get you on the road.

Not bad at all.

That's a good one. Creative testing? I can't remember reading in the manual that you have to be able to read the symbol when the light is on. Just that the light must be clearly marked.

my roadster was tested @ Beverly and I must say the guys there are very fair sounds like a good fail as fails go

femster87 - 19/4/12 at 09:42 AM

Thats a good fail mate. You can dim the race tech lights i believe. I think its somewhere in the menu.

gremlin1234 - 19/4/12 at 11:08 AM

if you cant dim the light, then some strategically placed paint on the led may do it. (try colour matched nail varnish )

Strange one that. Was that in his opinion, or is there a legal/documented requirement for a certain level of brightness??
I'd say that race technologies would have an opinion on this. Or IIRC you could supply a sidelight feed to the dash ( read ign feed at all times )which makes the warning lights dimmer.

What can I do to Adjust the handbrake efficiency? As the discs, calipers and pads are all brand new. I think a few miles should see them ok!

Sounds like a good fail, i remember trying to get the emmisions on mine right, took 3 goes i think at 60 quid a chuck !. got there in the end though well worth it.

i would go for a few runs in the car to get brakes sorted, mind you the second and third tests i drove the car there and back the long way

stevegough - 19/4/12 at 01:42 PM

OK, Daniel, but I'm puzzled why you took it to Beverley from Milnthorpe? Your nearest must be Carlisle, and you must have gone almost straight past Chadderton to get to Beverley?

At last someone has spelt it correctly

daniel mason - 19/4/12 at 02:20 PM

My Car was at Mnr in Harrogate and I was recommended Beverley. I had major issues with Carlisle when I put my last Mnr through sva
