Changing the speedo/mileometer

So,

I am changing out the old Sierra Clocks for a Digi-dash.

Do I have to have the new Dash set to the current miles, or can I just let it start from Zero?


I am not sure, in fact I am almost certain the current 20k odd miles is not correct anyway from when the car was built in 2004. Would the IVA/SVA have logged what the speedo was reading when it passed when it was passed ?

I am thinking I may just start from Zero now with the new digi-dash.

No you don't need to do anything, but it's a good idea just to make of note of the old mileage (or keep the old clocks) for future reference if you sell it, so a potential buyer can match things up with the MOT recorded mileage.

I believe all new MOTs now record mileage in a bid to stop "clocking"
Not sure how this would effect you.

I think it only becomes illegal if you try and pass off the car as only having done the clocked mileage. If you have a bunch of MOT's that change on a specific date, and photo's of the change (old clocks next to new clocks?), I guess you should be ok?

Yep as long as you don't hide the fact you've changed them its perfectly fine to do so.
