After first buying steel tube in 2000 and a welder I’ve booked it in
There’s a few bits to do - dash to finish - front mudgards to install - etc
See what happens
Any last min tips appreciated

No tips - oh other than plan to fail the first one. Then you have a list of issues that, once fixed, should guarantee a pass the second time
around.
Otherwise just "Congratulations"

Congratulations! Your persistence will soon pay off. I'm also 20+ years into a project. It must be a great feeling reaching IVA.
WELL DONE, go for it...
if you post a couple of pictures we may be able to help you avoid some 'silly' fail points, things like fog light, seatbelt mounts (and
seats) and the most silly failure - rear red reflectors.
Why are you rushing it..........(25 years in and counting)

Mudguards on order
It's all about the journey
I got a first time pass and one thing that helped me was to go through the IVA manual line by line and confirm your car fits the criteria, a friend refined it with - get one person to read through the manual aand two people to check - both were first time passes
Well done!!!
I'm hoping not to take as long with the build I started in January, but - you never know

one school of thought: It Does Not Have to be Perfect, just go for something that works for now. you can upgrade anything/ everything later

Welcome to the club
I think my advice is "make it the best you can and enjoy using it"
also, look at loads of completed builds and identify the ones that you "Like" and copy the asthetics
some folk fall into the "Chrome is good" stable and others less so.
build what you like and like what you build.

Well, after having to cancel (Dad has to go to hospital a bit more often)
Test rearranged for today
Summary
Failed, but we knew it would as it’s just not quite finished
Nothing major to be fair which was good
HC was 5000 - (CO was PASS) not sure how to adjust that as twin Dellorto 40s
All brakes passed yay
Speedo says 140mph
Design speed says 88mph (mk2 escort)
It was for checking the tyres 🛞
Several unmarked bolts
Steering lock doesn't work - I could have sworn it did - but need a second immobiliser
260kg each axle
I bought front indicator light brackets and they failed 80degrees visibility- move forwards or mount on nose
Overall great experience.
Failure list to work to now
Anyone know how long we have ?
Note - I need a 90deg speedo drive for mk2 escort - I bought a MGB and tried to Mcgyver it but failed …

Description
Congratulations on getting through the IVA relatively unscathed
Keep going - you're nearly there!
I actually enjoyed the morning to be fair
Anyone wondering what it’s like - it’s very thorough and the staff were great.
It did take the whole 4hours to be fair
Driving round the centre to warm the brakes and then do an emergency stop was the highlight
Yeah, got to put some time aside to get it over the line….
Congratulations with the almost pass - i eventually gave in after my dad got a terminal diagnosis and bought the Caterham. I now tinker with a car i can mostly drive. Now need to face up to selling the bits in the garage I've been working on for 25 years to make space for more tinkering.
