what is the cost of the sva test, do you get free re-tests like mot? thinking of buying a car that will need one to complete it, and trying to find out how much paperwork etc is going to cost me! cheers!
Cost of SVA is £150.00, retest is £30. Hope that helps. Chippy
cheers matey!
and if your thinking of putting a bike engine in do it after the SVA
unless it was an early blade 1994 model
believe me its a pain in the ass with emissions etc
heh heh! yeah already thought of that one!
do you need a screen to pass?
no you do not need a screen to pass and if you intend fitting a full size screen or an aero style screen leave it off until after so it cant fail on
that, if you have a full screen u need to have wipers/ de misters for sva IMHO its just more arsing around!! at least is you have an aero screen you
dont need to bother with wipers etc ...
Tom
thanks!
anything thats not there they cant test
wankas
Is there usually a waiting list for sva? also what do you need to bring along to the sva to get it completed? ie paperworkwise?
does it need to be mot'd once sva'd or is it classed as a new registered vehicle when you register it so it has 3years of no mot's?
never done this b4!!!

Classed as a new build. Even if you've used 40 year old parts. NO mot for 3 years. The sva man will want info proving things such as fuel hose being suitable for fuel (for ex. samco silicone isn't) brake lines etc the same. If he can't see things like seat belt mounts, pics will go a long way to helping. As said, if he can't see it he can't test it, BUT there are things he needs to see, mainly seat belt mounts, under the bonnet, and maybe the enitre wiring loom (to check for chafing etc).
thanks for your help guys!
