What does the SVA require of the seats? The manual reads that it has to be secure and mountings of sufficient strength.

I have a bit of play in the runner itself it seems. The seat is bolted tight to the top runner and the bottom runner is bolted tight to the floor. It seems though there is a couple of mm play in the runner mechanism.

How do you reckon this will be viewed at SVA? The seat is not insecure nor are the mounting points of insufficient strength but the seat does "wobble" when you hold the top and give it a gentle shake.

Thanks for any advice/experiences cos I cant see a way around it short of fitting a different type of runner or bolting them straight through the floor until after SVA (will be a bugger as the seats are different depth to the seat rails)

We had to take the runners off our Cobra 7's because of the seat belt angles.

We took the runners off and only 2 of the holes in the floor pan lined up with the holes in the seat, we explained this to the Tester and were preparing to drill some more holes and he just shook the top if the seat and said "there secure".

With the harneses as they are they take little or no stress should you be in an accident so probably don'y really need mounting that firmly.

Yeh I quite agree about the stress point, the belt is very slightly in contact with the bottom of the harness slot even with me sitting up as high as I can so they might argue that one.

So youre tester let you pass with just 2 of the bolts in? If I remove the runners Ill put a couple of blocks under the 2 holes which dont sit over a seat rail, but for the harness issue, itll still be sitting at the same height so the belt will still touch the seat and me together.
Is the rule about harnesses touching seats more an undue stress thing or is any contact a fail?

I don't think they nesacerily check the loading placed on the seat by the belt although if they look to place alot of stress on the seat then they'd probably fail and because of the belt angle measurements.

There's a picture of the required angles in my Photo Archive although there quilte hard to measure without their measuring device.

Provided the seat belt angles can be met with the runners on then the few mm's play in your runners should be fine, have you compared this play of that in a tin-top? just to see if its excessive?

There was a thread about seat belts yesterday, it seems that the only answer is that different sva centres test it differently..... best thing is to ask for someones whos experienced the sva centre your gowing too...
