When i applied for my chassis number at my local office i had to supply all the costings and evidence for the Kit manufacture, also log books for
donor vehicles.
I was suprised when the DVLA contacted me for an inspection of the vehicle at home.
The guy (Forbes) from the Dundee office arrived and was really helpful and the inspection was just to see if the chassis was new and had no existing
number.
All done in about 15 mins.
It just seems that all the DVLA offices do things differently, has anybody else had an inspection at home, for chassis number application?
I now have to wait for number application.
Is this the norm.

My local DVLA office gave me the option of coming to me or taking the car to them.
They said I could choose my own chassis number.

Yep, I had to take my car to Armagh tax office so they could do an inspection, all a long time before SVA and MOT.
Bloke inspecting it didn't know his arse from his elbow. He asked was the fireblade engine out of a Sierra.
I think they just wanted to check I wasn't up to something. God only knows why I'd want to register a non-existant car! Maybe to prevent
me re-registering a stolen car or something?
All the best

Took mine to Portsmouth, guy very helpful, (another petrol head). I hadn't kept most of my bills, which I didn't know I had to, No problem
say's the guy, just write a list of what you think you spent, and bring it in, with the plans, The Book! All went very well, they photo copied
ALL the book plans, (think he may be thinking of building one.).

Regards Ray
Mine was inspected at home approx 2 months before applying for SVA. Car wasnt finished but looked like a car and they let me use my choice of chassis
number. Stockton are great. Kelly was extremely helpful.
After SVA i dropped the forms in and got reg a couple of days later. Couldnt have been easier.
