Thinking of using orginal Bike clocks for my BEC but wasnt nessarily going to put a fuel sender in the tank. Would it be an MOT failure if the guage was present but not working?
don't even need a gauge, not part of the test
Yup. According to this site http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_720.htm fuel gauge is not mentioned.
Interestingly
my Peugeot has passed its Mot three times so far without working reversing
lights. Just as well. A mechanic tells me its probably a sensor switch inside the gearbox which is faulty & would require a massive strip down to
repair.
don't even need a speedo!
only need dash lights for main beam, fog and indicators.
Neither reverse lights nor fuel guage are part of the test
But.... isn't the rules for reverse lights (amongst other things) that if they're fitted they have to work?
Yes - that was my thinking too. The MOT manual site listed above states "hazard warning devices" wouldn't the reversing lights which don't illuminate the drivers view very well warn others of the vehicles intention to travel in the wrong direction? Also wouldn't someone travelling on a motorway need to know if they have enough fuel to the next serivice station so they don't get trapped on the hard shoulder?
Hazard warning devices refers only to hazard flasher lights.
but thats the same isue with a reverse!
wich UK ministers aproves cars without a form of reverse.
its still a strange thing
if you would drive in a fire you couldnīt drive away from it.
Tks
Reverse light will only fail if perminantly on as it will show white light to the rear, dosnt need to work though , fuel gauge is no part of an mot eather. As already mentioned all you need on the dash is tell tail lamps i.e fog lamp. hazards etc
