Expansion bottle MIN max reading needed??

Is it obgliatory?SVA?

to have min and max read on the bottle?
else i need to add a side glass. wich will take awat the nice round surface...

I havent even fitted an expansion bottle and passed SVA. Dont recall the cooling system being checked at all. As long as it doesnt boil up and conk out during the test you should be OK. Car was running static for some time so its worth trying this out at home to make sure it all works well.

i actually completed the test and when pulling off the rollers all done and dusted the rear core plug failed dumping rusty looking water into the roller pit and right across their floor and still got the MAC. They mopped it all up for me and then allowed me to sit in the warm waiting room whilst awaiting a tow truck.

failing of that plug can be explained if you donīt have a bottle!!

the water system is designed for a max pressure of approx 2,1 Bar it means that if the pressure rises in the system due to expanding water you core plug could be blown out. the air in the bottle is there to adjust your margin zone less air higher pressure hihger boiling point.. of water.

more air lower boiling point (100) but water could get cooked in the mountains..

to high pressures are reliefed by the valve / press cap. do you have one?

nah, failing of the plug was actually down to it rusting from the inside out due to engine being stood for some time before i installed it! Just bad luck / laziness in not changing them.

The rad cap is still vented to control the pressure i think. Im no expert though.

Nice idea ref stainless tank by the way. The airline fittings with clear tube should act as a good level gauge if you need it. Failing that you can always take the top off when engine is cold during routine checks to see if it is OK.

Also an expansion bottle acts as an air bled.

problem is the fittings specs say 80degrees max..

sow iīm fittong a sideglass (like round eye of glass with a X in it sow you get high contrast..) will post a pic when done..
