
Yes, its getting to that time of the build.
I can get the plates dot matrix etched at work, but...
The VIN needs to be on 2 places on the chassis according to my DVLA man.
So is 2 under the bonnet ok? One will be a stainless plate welded to one of the chassis rails, the other will be an alumiunium plate riveted onto the
scuttle firewall.
Any one see any problems?

I would suggest (for no other reason than it seems silly putting them both together) er, yeah, well seperate them. one in the back by the fuel tank perhaps, or in the passenger footwell? somewhere less obvious?

I see no problem then apart from maybe as already said putting one out of sight,
or even going as far as a 3rd one hidden for potential 'post theft' identification god forbid

dvla stated on my letter chassis was to be marked on bodywork & on a plate attatched to the vehicle.the number should be stamped/embossed on the o/s in a clearly visible & accessible position.hope this helps,ive welded a plate on the chassis & rivetted another to the scuttle
Strange, the tester only looked and asked for one number and it was stamped directly in the chassis.
I do have another hidden one on the chassis that only I can point to it necessary.
Another DVLA anomaly, mine's on once stamped in the chassis rail under the nose cone, can only be read with the bonnet removed.
this is another one of the ill defined areas that seems to vary where and who you ask.
I can only comment on my case;
a) ali plate pop riveted to scuttle in the engine bay - semi-permanent
b) number stamped on the chassis on top rail near the radiator (again in engine bay) permanent can only be ground off.
