That V627 and V55/5
Avoneer - 18/3/07 at 09:22 PM

Can someone refresh my memory.

Halfway through my Avon build, I sent off both these forms.

2 weeks later, a fella came out, verified my engine number and chassis number (provided by Tiger and stamped into my chassis) then went.

I applied for SVA myself.

Aftre SVA, I took my MAC1 to DVLA where they pulled out my file (containing the V627 and V55/5) and gave me my plates there and then.

Hmmmm.

Right, I have my new V627 and V55/5, but as my chassis is scratch built, at what point do I get my chassis number?

Do I send them both off and the bloke will bring me one, but if that's the case, how can he check they are stamped on like he did with the Tiger???

Cheers,

Pat...

Oh no it's the...
Do they tell me or do I tell them, what my chassis number is saga again!!!

My personal experience Notts DVLA,
I told them this is my number, and its on this plate what I have rivetted on just here, not stamped anywhere (then).
Others will tell you mucho differento I am sure

I wrote to them once asking for a specific no. but was told that one would be issued on approval of my application.

So....

That sounds like I may get one when they have processed my application so I can stamp it on before the fella comes out.

Sound about right???

I put my chassis number on my application, it can/has to be 13? charachters long, so i did COLIN1234MKINDY type thing and they wrer fine with it

I thought they had to be 17 digits long, I made mine up LUEGOVIENTOV6**** and DVLA sent me a letter saying it was acceptable and sufficient for their needs!
(exeter DVLA)
cheers colin

I had had rather a lot to drink, hence the 13 with a "?"

That is a good one Chris

I had DVLA inspection at home before SVA. I wrote letter to local office and proposed a chassis number. She called me next day to confirm the number was Ok and made the inspection appointment. Lady brought forms to me. Before the inspection she insisted that i had the number stamped on chassis so she could verify it when she came out. (i stamped a plate and welded it on - wasnt allowed to rivet).

After SVA i took Mac and DVLA forms in and a few days later got the reg number.

from memory it is minumum of 9 chracters and maximum of 17.

Remember the shorter the VIHJ, the lighter it will be

What is weird about choosing you r own number is you go through SVA, stamp the chassis blah blah but donlt know until you comne to register if the number is unique to be allowed
