My MK has been on the road for just over a year now and I just went to the post office to tax it. They said I can't since I don't have an
MOT certificate. I've read through similar threads where people say to tax it online but when I tried that it says:
"To continue, please confirm that your vehicle has been issued with a new style (electronic) MOT (Copy not required to complete
transaction)."
Which i don't have since I don't need an MOT for over another year. Where can i get a tax disk? Should I get one from the Notts dvla office?
that's where I got mine last time after sorting out the car reg/inspection stuff. Would just mean an hour and a half round trip compaired to 5
mins to the local PO

I had this issue filled out the forms that was discussed a while ago.
went down to my local PO on a busy saturday morning explained to which the very nice lady listenned and said
Her - Have you your V5 ?
Me - Reply Yes
Her - Give it here then 'Scans Barcode on V5 into here computer'
Her - Yes thats fine 6 months or 12
Me - ( very shocked ) -12 please handing over lots of hard erned readies
Me - asked why her computer said yes ok without MOT cert YET the DVLA renew certificates says NO MOT no tax disk !?!?!?
Her - Don't know but we have lots of issues with the renew certificates so if problems we try to do it from the V5 .
Try it it worked for me

Cool will try that first at the local office, had my V5 with me but didn't think of that
Poit out the first date of registration and tell her that it is less than three years old and doesn't need one.
I Taxed my car last week no problem. it was sorned and I could not do it on line.

I did mine at the local DVLA office without MOT certificate.

Sorted, went to a local village office that does car tax. The woman behind the counter did ask for an MOT cert. but I pointed out the reg date on the
V5, then one of the chaps who worked there backed me up
I'm going out for a spin now
