Got my SVA retest tomorrow, all the bits are sorted (the day after the 1st test, all very minor)
Will be going in to DVLA on the way home to take the reg docs in.
Only worries I have are:
Insurance certificate only has the last 10 digits of the VIN on it, as obviously the car has no reg number and the ins company's "box"
only has 10 holes..............will DVLA accept this?? (bloody hope so as can't see another solution! )
I don't have receipts for engine or gearbox, though I do have a V5 for the engine donor in my mate's name.........
i was at dvla yesterday the only receipts i had were for the indy kit in a different name, 1 ebay for the dials and one from a tyres compy for the rubber, i told thet that i got the rest from mates who were building and car shows, didnt have a problem and came away with a tax disk and a form to get my plates made up

Nat,
That will be fine - They didnt actually check my receipts - I had a meticulous folder of receipts.
All they wanted to see where:
1) Receipt for chassis
2) Proof of engine age and that it wasn't stolen
That was it.
So GOOD LUCK mate - if you're blasting down this way - pop in and say hi! I'm currently Off The Road - swapping bellhousings, new rear main
crank seal and sump gasket!

i booked at the dvla in peterborough mate, but i think you could turn up on the off chance, but you might have a long wait
oi, what are you on about, i sold you the engine and gearbox you muppet!
Still got the blooming receipt as you never took it with you. Pop round tonight and you can collect it. Make sure you've got the engine number as
i sold a couple of engines and i have to make sure i give you the right reciept.
muzchap - did you get a new reg plate then, or an age related plate?
How did you do Nat ?
I put mine through Notts and echo the helpfull tester experience.
I took the MAC straight down to the VRO (i think it was called that) in Notts, as I had a number plate already on retention it took about half an hour
with no inspection what so ever by DVLA.
I have now sold the yellow thing (guy picking it up tomorrow), and have bought the phoenix chassis from Chris Gamlin, so here I go again.

Nat???
Brooky - Oh a fellow Phoenix in Nuneaton - that would have made 3 if birt hadn't buggered off to Oz. My chassis is a late Sylva chassis - if you
ever need a ride out when motivation is lacking feel free to give me a shout or if you want to pick my brains on Phoenix build issues. Whereabouts are
you in Nuneaton?
I am in the chapel end area. As far as motivation goes, having just agreed a sale on the locoblade; I am pretty motivated.
I may pop round to see how the phoenix is supposed to go together some time.
Nat, sorry for hi-jacking your thread, but how did you do ?
I'm not going to tell you he passed, cause obviously thats for him to do.
I also won't also tell you the car isn't on the road due to the DVLA. I think when someone has calmed down they might manage to string
enough polite sentances together to explain.
If it was allocated to you the first 7 should be SABTVRO Nat, I wouldn't worry about it.
Well passed the retest without hitch, but DVLA now insist on insopecting the car.
They were present at the watnall vosa station, but despite sitting drinking tea for an hour while I was there, "didn't have time" to
carry out an inspection..........................
they did have time to chat about the car and look at it for ages though

now have to wait until 11 may for my inspection...........................
new chap at notts vro, will insist on inspection and will be at least a two week wait, so anybody thinking of using this route, try and use
peterborough instead.
My mate at Ultima has said he is stopping using notts as they are now useless.
Well done nat on the re test, shame about the VRO.
I waited about 10 days for my inspection after SVA from wimbledon VRO
, yet fozzie and others had there inspection before SVA from the the same
VRO.
Its obvious the inspection before SVA is better for us and must speed up work at the VRO as well, just a shame government offices are not efficient
how long after inspection did youhave to wait to get a reg?
I was gonna say it takes 10 mins to make the plates..... DVLA manchester registered mine while I waited (I just turned up on their doorstep) but I
think I was lucky that a) the right person was 'in' that day & b) I'd had their inspection previously. - It took just over an hour
& I came away with a tax disc & number plate documentation to get the plates made. Not a lot of help to you I suspect Nat..... but at least
the MAC is in your hand! - well done
Bob
It took about 3 days for Reading DVLA to send me my tax disk and plate info.
LOL the MAC is now in DVLA's hand, so they better not lose the bloody thing....................wouldn't put anything past them.
You would have thought the "driver and VEHICLE licensing authority" would have a decent size car park, but no, not at Notts, no room for my
tow car and trailer.....................
got rather fed up and parked in their lovely flower borders, shame about the tire marks eh
I got tax and a kinda cover note with reg number on after about 1hr 30 at my CRO which wasnt bad, it was only luck i took enough cash though as i
didnt realise they dont (or didnt then) take cards.
The stupid thing is they would take a check
Excellent news about the re-test Nat!
Congratulations!
Fozzie
Cheers Fozzie!!!!!
On the road soon anyway I spose, even with the delay!!!
I've paid DVLA etc (£230 !!! ) and they have the paperwork, just waiting for the inspection.
They do take cards now (at notts at any rate) and I said I would pay by card, but then when they gave the inspection date I went and fetched the
chequebook!!! If I have to wait for the inspection then they can wait for the money!! lol!!

Oh yes! on the road very soon
I think myself lucky that my inspection was done pre SVA (3 years ago now
)
I really cannot understand the reason behind them doing the inspection post SVA...
Or indeed, why the checks needed for 'inspection' can't be done at the SVA centre.... I suppose that would be too logical...
Still next week isn't too far away
Congrats again!
