DVLA Inspection today
NeilP - 26/4/07 at 05:37 PM

With a lady called Leanne - She filled in on her form what I told her.

All my receipts were with the Brum central office already. I took EVERY other bit of paper I had which she didn't want to see. I even did a set of photos showing the evolution of the engine from dirty lump in Granny to powder coated lump in kit - ditto.

Conclusion: I could have had a jet engine from a MIG fighter in there with steering off the NASA moon lander and drivetrain from Eurostar (Big John - Your next project mate when you get bored/scared of the Viper!) and it would still have been recorded as a granny donor getting an age related plate.

Serious conversation with her afterwards about, "..isn't this all a bit silly and pointless then" and conclusion was yes.

Never mind - Hopefully envelope next week with reg no., tax disk and form to get plates and then Stoneleigh here we come...

p.s. Checked the position with driving to the inspection. Her take on the legislation is that as the DVLA inspection is not mandatory under the rules then you aren't covered but they (Brum)don't do anything about it - Raises the question re: the Insurance Co's view - When I asked Footman James they said the SVA and the DVLA...

IF its 'NOT' mandatory then why do we have to 'Have' one to get plates etc. Why aren't they just issued after SVA.

Sorry I've just opened that can of worms again.

My question exactly - Which got a shrug of shoulders in return.

Even more incredulous, the building they use in Brum is under 2 miles from the main VOSA test station, is actually VOSA's but they share!!!

Government efficiency in action again...
