I have nearly completed a RH based on a sierra. I have a pile of receipts for parts and the origional donor chassis plates etc....
Im reconing the car will be ready for SVA in 3 months or so...
But can someone some up briefly what I need to do...Do I just book an SVA test, or do I need to sort out a chassis number first?...
Im pretty confused over the entire thing to be honest..it looks more complicated than building the damn car!
what area are you as someone will have some local knowledge
Why not give Paul Jepson a ring. He will take all the form filling out of the situation which is the biggest headache for lot of people (including me)
and will give you advice on the best way to proceed.
£35 for peace of mind is well worth it imo.
Im in Malvern, worcestershire...so will either be going to Avonmouth or B-Ham for SVA

Depends where you live - I contacted my local DVLA office in Ipswich and got put in contact with their kit-car man (Mr Feest?). He did my DVLA
inspection well ahead of the SVA, walked me through all the forms, told me what I did and didn't need to fill in, and so on.
However, judging by the comments on this forum, he's a very rare animal...

Same experience as David, home inspection 6 months or so before SVA, the local kit car man in Brighton DVLA was brilliant, filled in the registration
forms over the phone.
The form filling for SVA is no problem, have a look here for all the help you need,

why pay somebody to do it when all the help you need is available for free.
From my experience the SVA was a breeze (Michael @ Mitcham), 1 hr 20mins all over pass 1st time.

What exactly do they inspect or verify when they do your home inspection?
Just checked the chassis and engine numbers matched those on the paperwork, took all of 5 minutes.
