Quick Question; Do you need a V5 from the Donor vehicle to get an age related plate?

I have a letter from Ford proving the Engines age. The gearbox age you can never prove, so how do the DVLA know it has come from the vehicle you stated it did?

I do not have the donor vehicles V5, will this give me a problem when trying to get an age related plate?

Anybody else tried without a V5?

I think you will have problems without a V5,
Can you not buy a really knackered old Sierra and just scrap it?

First do a search, this has been covered so many times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those too lazy:
I did not have a V5 but gave the inspector the car reg number of the Donor engine. They can check this easily.
There is a points system.
You need 8 points to get an age related plate.
1 point for engine, 1 for transmission etc.
But the best bit is that a new chassis (you will need a reciept for new material or a manufacturer) counts as 5 points.
I named myself as the manufacturer and gave the inspector a reciept for the steel.
Voila age related plate!

I did'nt have a donor vehicle V5, but got an age related plate by totting up 8 points from engine /gearbox for the same known vehicle, chassis and body panels for same supplier and front and rear running gear, all with receipts. The age related plate, 'W' reg, was based on the engine vehicle reg.
