Would the brake and indicator lights be OK for SVA mounted like they are rather than rotate 90 to the right, if you seem what I mean. If I mount them as shown it helps keep the back of the light holder horizontal.

You should be okay.
Its not like a headlight lense that bends the light in a given direction

You can always rotate the lense within the housing to bring them back to the correct position.
