Brake Pipe Bend Radius
mistergrumpy - 13/5/07 at 10:28 AM

Following on from a recent post I've got a couple of the standard Sierra rubber brake pipes to span the distance between my De Dion and the caliper, got braided everywhere else but can't be bothered to wait for the postage time etc. and I'm living the cheese butty diet at the moment cos I'm so skint. I'm actually in the position where I'm sacrificing food for car parts Anyway my question is is there a maximum bend radius on these rubber pipes. I'm after bending it round in a U shape and making an extension bracket off the axle to meet it. There's no contact with the crimped collar edges so no rubbing and the book says that "kinked, stretched or twisted" pipes will fail but not sure on the definition of kinked or twisted there.I'll try and get a mock photo in a bit.

Here's a picture. Am wanting to bend it this much. Anyone see any problems?

I dont see aproblem with that as long as it cant rub on anything nearby.
Steve.

Thats my opinion too but just wanted to see the general opinion. Can't find any official data on them.
