Exhaust tail pipe facing down...?
Winston Todge - 15/10/07 at 09:46 PM

Hey,

Any chance anyone knows if I can face the tail pipe directly downwards on the nearside of the car directly under the wing?

Does it have to face outwards?

Thanks for any input,

Chris.

Diesel stylee? If oil burners can do it, I don't see a problem.

It can face where you like (apart from up - I know trucks point up, but they tend to be 10' high), and so long as the ends have the right radius

Would look very sleek

I noticed that on my car you can get some strange happenings with exhaust fumes finding there way back into the car when I had mine pointing down. Perhaps try and make your zaust so it can be altered easily by rotating it.

My only concern with a down-pointing exhaust is that any petrol or oil that comes out of the end will go straight under the rear wheel (assuming that you're talking about a 7-style car).

You could try 45 degrees 'out and down'.

Also be aware of any potential implications on the sound levels at SVA time. I would be concerned about "pointing" the sound directly at the tarmac, having it bounce back up around the wheel arch and underside of the car?
