Well, I failed at Chadderton this morning. Not bad. Just on emmisions and noise.
Couldn't get the Lambda down enough despite being given plenty of tinker time. Running at 1.156 at best so quite a bit weak (surprisingly) but I
think the pre-pump filter might be blocked and causing it. Noise failed by 1db at 102.6. Think I've got a slight missfire right on the noise test
rev' range (plugs probably from workshop running) and should be ok if I solve that.
Everything else was ok bar lifting the head light aim one turn.

Very Good fail mate!!!
Steve
good one!!
a couple of hamsters shoved into the exhaust should bring it down to SVA pass level.
I'm pretty chuffed to be honest. It failed on the 2 things that I couldn't really check myself. They sounded pretty impressed with it. Got a
crowd of inspectors around it and when any raised a queery the others came up with the reason it should pass. Didn't even get out the radius
guages; said there was no point.
Best bit is the weight! So, bearing in mind I've got a full screen and the tank was brim full (+35kgs?) what do you think it was? Closet one gets
a bacon butty at the next show.
adrian
624kg
Well done thou adrian, it means you've build a well put together car, good luck with soted the emisions, are you runing a PC? can't you get
some type of sva map
[Edited on 12/5/08 by Johneturbo]
588kgs
Well.....
Based on a mate of mine having a lightweight chassis Fury with race weight bodywork, with Hayabusa.
His car is 438kg on the startline, so I'll go for 515kg.
Well done just work out the emissions.
452kg

well done mate, sounds like a good fail.
Guess the weight for food
. 435kg
Well done mate. They sound like pretty decent fellas down there. Mind your build spoke for itself when I saw it.
well done should be easily sorted.
I guess 450Kg ( based on my fury being 465 with a blade but i've got doors)
best of luck with the retest
Good one Adrian. Well pleased for you. Mines back in tomorrow at Chadderton for the same things. Noise and Lamda
Was it John who did the test? I'll try and put in a good word for you
No, it was Dave Bedows. Chester sports cars had a Tiger in for test this morning. They said John is a stickler for the regs!
Good luck with the retest.
adrian
i remember Dave did my second test, top bloke.
Guess the weight compitition closes at 10pm tonight!
Someone is very close!
adrian
Kerbside weight 458kg's (with a full tank of 30kg's of petrol and a sill full of tools).
So the prize goes to Clive with 452. One bacon butty when I meet you.
My target was 450. Without the fuel, tools and with my shiny new CXR wheels I'll have a dry weight of close to 400kgs!
adrian
Well, I've had a play at the MOT station and got the emmisions under the pass level. Also put some +20/30's in around the noise test rev
range and it smoothed out a lot so should pass that as well. Just can't get a re-test 'till the 27th!
So if anybody is going to cancel a test at Manchester next week let me know so I can phone up for a earlier spot!
adrian
godd luck again Adrian, no butty for me

Good luck Adrian. It was Geof who did my retest and he turned out to be a top fellow. They will let you tinker second time around to get it right.
And make sure you play the simpathy card.
One piece of adivice though with Stretford DVLA is that they wont let you drive the car to the centre. Nor will they allow trailers. They only do
DVLA tests at Chadderton. So I would give them a call to see if you can do the SVA and the DVLA at the same time.
The lady is called Jean I think who is regularly at Chadderton
I had a big barny with them as they asked why I didnt call to do both tests together
Now my DVLA inspection is not till the 3 June
Like I said give the DVLA a call and get your paperwork in otherwise you will end up waiting ages and going back to Chadderton
Paul
Cheers Paul. I got in yesterday to find a letter from DVLA (Brigid). They want to inspect it on the 27th. Same day as my re-test! Must be a
coincidence that it's the same date; they ain't that organised. Only thing is they want to see it at 10am and retest isn't till 2.50pm.
Think I'll have to phone and try changing the time as then they could take the MAC but I'm also trying to get an earlier re-test.
Good bit is I could drive it there (but would have to sit around for neaarly 5 hours between appointments).
adrian
Adrian, drive round the car park for 5 hrs, try to get it sideways.
