After blowing my engine up during my SVA, 3 weeks ago, I fitted a replacement engine (same cc, even the same age).
I was recommended to send back my log book for the donor with the changed engine number.
Nearly 3 weeks I’ve been waiting. The car is ready for retest (was ready on the first weekend after the initial test). I can’t do anything until I
get the log book back.
How long can it take to change a number!!!!!
Rant over!!!!!

What document do you mean by 'log book' ?

I'm guessing he means the V5.
Why do you need that for the SVA? It's only when it comes to registration that you need it to prove what the donor was for getting an age-related
plate.
Took em about 2 months to do mine, they wanted a receipt on headed notepaper to prove the cc and engine number (or an engineers report!!!) right
pain in the butt!

What will they use as guide for the emissions if you don’t provide proof of age of the donor ‘engine’.
For the initial SVA test they used the log book (v5 to you youngsters).
I was recommended by the guys at the VOSA station that this was the process!
As they seem to have all of the top trumps as you can’t argue with them when you want something from them, can you!
Secondly, when it comes to registration, if you can’t prove where your principle components have come from (the points system) you will likely be
assigned a ‘Q’ prefix registration. I would prefer a age related plate.
Ah....... for my SVA, they used the build-form that was in my file that DVLA had sent to them when I applied for my SVA to ascertain engine/gear box
etc originality and checked the numbers from that........
Another area where the VOSA/DVLA differ from place to place.......
On the downside of your predicament.... as the 'new' engine was not in the donor.........
I hope DVLA play ball for you......
Good luck with the re-test
