mac1 aeroscreen for SVA
jabbahutt - 29/5/08 at 03:23 PM

Afternoon

Anyone here managed to pass SVA with the Mac1 aeroscreen fitted( not the double bubble type)

I know that it's easier to fit after but looking at access to fasten it on with the dash and wiring it could be difficult.

Only problem I can see is the top edge which is rectagular not rounded.

Any ideas on how to make it SVA friendly? I was thiking of large herringbone trim pressed on but wasn't sure whether that would keep the inspector happy.

any assistance much appreciated.

Thanks
Nigel

Buy the Rivnuts that are suitable for fibreglass (I think they are called Jacknuts), you'll need 6 - 8 of them and then fit it all and make sure it's ok.

But remove it for SVA, knowing that it'll take two seconds to fit it afterwords???

it sounds like youre well aware of the requirements and herringbone would proably be the only permanant/temporary means to making it acceptable by the examiner.

I know of a number of US spec motorbikes that have been imported in the UK which have been presented for their equivalant of the SVA with herringbone trim around the fairing which passed so i cant see why the aeroscreen would pass with the same applied.

The easiest way is to present the vehicle without the screen as you say but its only easiest for the SVA not for what youre wanting to do with the car after

I doubt whether the car would pass with the "sports screen" attached without any additions or alteration.
