Hi all,
whats the best way to sort my R1 emissions for SVA - thinking cheapest and easiest to sort out for every MOT.
Also, how have people addressed the cat issue?
Cheers
Steve
by fitting a cat?
are you injected or carburetter ???
I opted for an injected R1 with a power commander. This means that I can have a map for the mot.
Cats will be required on any engine made on/after 1995.
I bought mine fron a USA supplier on ebay for £50 including delivery. MK engineering do the same one for £80.
I got my carbed R1 through by fitting a cat and adjusting the idle fuel mixture screws at an MOT station until the readings were right.
I'm running a year carb'd 5JJ engine.
I'd seen the cats on ebay and was wondering how to tackle the slight kink that's in my exhaust - maybe it's worth the bit extra for the
MK version of the same thing, assuming that it can be suitably fettled to fit.
you will probably have a dynojet kit in your carbs ??
iyour best bet is to have a cat made or altered to suit your car ( doesnt need to be stainless for mot time get one off ebay ) and a spare std set of
carbs ( i.e std needles, mains etc ) and just swap over for mot time.
cheers
marc
Cheers - I've got a set of TTS BEC needles in the carbs already, it was more the cat and setup that I was querying.
I'll have a search on ebay and see if I can find mild steel cat to use (at least then I can get it fettled with a mig welder by my mate)
Any particular car that would be suitable to source one from?
