Ok, so having been to the SVA center twice already im fed up of it, so this Wednesday WILL be my last visit!

So once I have passed and have a nice shiny Ministers certificate in hand...

What is the procedure?

Should I phone the local DVLA office (In fishponds I believe), in the hope that I can go and see them, or should I just turn up and surprise them?

Its a long way to tow the car if I cant get something sorted straight after the test!

What do they actually need to see/do at the DVLA office?

Moral supported willingly accepted!

I also recently passed my SVA in Bristol (Avonmouth)

Once i had my MAC, i visited the DVLA officies at Stoke Gifford, & arranged a DVLA inspection. at the time of inspection, i also had insurance (based on the chassis number) so that once the inspector had finished (and i had paid) , he assigned me a age related plate, a tax disc. Then sent me on my way.

I had a set of number plates made on the way home.

Job done

Did they do the inspection there and then or did you have to return another day?

So the only paperwork I need are the MAC and insurance details?

You need to go there to make an appointment date & time, and then return with the car on that date & time. As the inspector is only avalible on certain days.

I had to wait less that a week. which suited me as I needed the cover note to come through, so that i could get the tax on the same visit.

PS. take all of the paper work you have.

reciepts, orignal log book for the donor (if you have it) etc etc

its better to take every you have and not need it, rather than need it & not have it.

The inspector needs to feel confident that you know where all of the major parts have come from, this is really important if you want a age related plate. The grey bit for me was the back axel, which came from a MKII escort, we had a laugh that it just must have been older that the engine which was from a sierra anyway....

It may be a silly question but have you filled in the DVLA forms V55/5 & V627?
